Pretty Berry Smoothie
This morning I woke up at 4.30am. Why? I don’t know, ask my brain. It just decided that at 4.30am, it was time to get up. Needless to say, this gave me a few hours of planning a nice breakfast. Well…my first breakfast AND my second breakfast. You see, I’m kind of like a Hobbit in that I eat a lot. And frequently. I don’t have hairy feet though.
After much thinking time, I decided to use the flesh from the young coconut I drank the day prior, as a starting point and then added lots of nutritious, fresh berries. I was pretty pleased with the taste test, but the appearance did not do it justice.
Now, if you are on Instagram (I am…check me out), you will be familiar with the amazing smoothies that people put together; its like an art form. I was inspired and challenged. I wanted to present my smoothie with the beauty it so deserved.
I was determined to make a pretty smoothie!
Now picture this, me frantically pouring the smoothie into a Mason Jar (because it’s all the trend!), trying to garnish it before it melts, running outside as it runs down my hands (and all over the kitchen floor), balancing my smoothie in one hand, in the rain, with phone in the other hand, trying to shoot the photo with a very, curious dog following closely behind scabbing the the fruit that is being dropped, carelessly as I go. It was like something out of a black and white slapstick comedy. All I needed was Larry and Moe…woop, woop, woop…
Despite my comedic routine this morning, the end result was actually very delicious. You are welcome to try it out. Do let me know what you think!
