A Video Interview: Free Range Meat – The Inside Word
Since I am new to eating meat, I wanted to focus on how to try to eat meat the healthiest, freshest and kindest way possible. Since I don’t have my own backyard farm where I can hand rear my own animals for meat, the next best thing is a local, free range butcher.
Free range is something I have always been aware of, but do you know the difference between free range chicken and say beef? And how does the flavour profile of grainfed meat compare to grassfed meat?
In the video, you hear Sam talk about a Paleo meat section with bacon, and how nitrates are often used as a preservative. Whilst the jury is out on the exact science on this one (read more here), I personally think going as natural and as close to Real Food as possible, is the better way to go.
And let me just say this, if you have never tried REAL free range, sugar free, preservative free bacon…YOU HAVE NOT LIVED! Drool…
